All attendees must be packed and departed by 11 AM
Guided by seasoned volunteers who offer spotting, trail tips, and help through obstacles. Ride sign-up sheets are placed at the Pavilion each evening and morning. Please sign up in advance and respect group limits—too many trucks in a group affects everyone's experience.
Pack Accordingly:
There’s no McDonald’s on the trail—so bring a lunch, snacks, and plenty of water. Also, make sure to top off your fuel tank before leaving camp in the morning. A full tank and full belly make for a better trail day.
Trail Ratings:
Easy: Suitable for stock 4WD vehicles. Minimal obstacles, wide access.
Moderate: May be possible in a stock vehicle with a capable driver, but sliders and 33” tires are recommended.
Difficult: Winch required. Sliders and underbody protection strongly recommended. Higher risk of body damage or recovery situations.
Stupid: Extreme routes that require full commitment, skill, and built rigs. Run at your own risk.
Can My Truck Do It?
We’ve seen skilled drivers take stock 100 Series Land Cruisers with A-TRAC through difficult trails successfully. But one slip could cave in a door. You need to decide your own risk tolerance and comfort level. Nobody can make that call but you.
A Note About Pinstripes:
The trails at Windrock are tight. Scratches and pinstripes are virtually unavoidable. If your rig is a show queen, consider riding with a buddy and leaving it at camp.
Meetup Locations:
Different routes meet and depart from different locations—Pavilion, General Store, Old General Store (yes, it's different), or the Trail 2 parking lot. Meet up locations will be provided at trail sign up.
Ride Return Time:
We aim for all guided rides to return by mid-afternoon, typically around 3–4 PM. However, this is never guaranteed. Breakdowns, recoveries, or trail delays happen—that's part of the adventure. Relax, enjoy the experience, and go with the flow.
Want to Preview Some Routes?
You can view info, maps, and images from some of the routes we may run at daveyjordan.com/trails.
Saturday night: Our World Famous Charity Raffle features over $50,000 in donated prizes. Tickets are $1 each and can be purchased throughout the weekend at the trailer. Cash and credit cards accepted.
You must be present to win. We have a lot of prizes to give away and try to keep things moving fast. Please be alert and pay attention when numbers are being called. If your number is called and no one claims it, the ticket is considered burned — there are no do-overs or redraws.
So grab your seat, keep your ticket handy, and stay tuned. Don’t miss your chance at some incredible gear!
Event Address:
All GSMTR activities are centered around the Pavilion, located at 599 Windrock Park Ln, Oliver Springs, TN 37840. Google Maps will accurately direct you to this address.
Primitive camping is included in your registration. Do not stop at the Windrock Campground Office unless you rented a cabin or paid campsite. Head straight to the group camping field. Camp is first come, first served. If you arrive after hours, find a spot and check in the next morning.
Showers are nearby in the bathhouse (code provided at event). Porta johns are available on-site. Choose your neighbors wisely—some folks stay up late!
After you complete check-in at the Pavilion, you will be directed to proceed to the tech inspection area. There, we’ll ensure your rig meets the safety requirements for participation in guided rides.
Required:
1. Fire extinguisher (accessible)
2. First aid kit (accessible)
3. Secured battery tie-down (no bungees)
Highly Recommended:
- Recovery points front and rear (not factory tiedowns)
- Full-size spare tire
- Working winch (REQUIRED for difficult rides)
Tech inspection must be completed before participating in a guided ride. You’ll receive a window sticker—no sticker, no ride.
We exclusively use GMRS radios for guided rides. If you’re bringing a Baofeng UV-5, be sure it transmits and receives on GMRS. Learn your radio BEFORE the event. Don’t be the guy unboxing his radio at the drivers meeting. Trail leaders will give channel assignments each morning.
Thurs: Ground beef tacos with toppings
Fri: Hamburgers & Hot Dogs
Sat: Buddy’s BBQ (pork & chicken), sides, dessert
All meals are prepared on shared grills. We cannot accommodate special dietary needs. Bring your own food if necessary.
Meal tickets for guests (non-registered passengers or friends) are available for $30 and cover all three dinners. Driver meal tickets are already included with registration.
Alcohol is allowed in the campground and at the Pavilion. Huge thanks to our platinum sponsor ACC Garage for providing beer for attendees! 🍻
However, absolutely NO alcohol is allowed on the Windrock trail system. This isn’t just about open containers — you cannot have any alcohol (open or unopened) in your vehicle while on the trails. Windrock security has the right to inspect your vehicle and enforce this rule.
By purchasing a Windrock pass, you agree to their terms, including consenting to vehicle searches. If you are found with alcohol on the trail system, you are subject to immediate removal and a ban from Windrock Park. That also means you will be asked to leave GSMTR with no refund — no exceptions, no discussion.
So double-check your cooler, center console, and any trail bags. Beer, whiskey, seltzers, wine — whatever it is, keep it at camp. Don't ruin your weekend over a single oversight.
Only the driver needs a GSMTR registration. Passengers are welcome and only need to buy a meal ticket ($30 for 3 dinners). If a friend brings their own truck, they must register on-site ($125). No single-day registrations. Everyone in a vehicle MUST have a Windrock pass.
Every driver and every passenger, regardless of age, must have a valid Windrock pass — no exceptions. This is required by the park for anyone entering the trail system.
Passes can be purchased online, at the General Store, or—most conveniently—at the Windrock Campground Office, which is located directly on your route to the event area. We strongly encourage attendees to stop at the Campground Office rather than detouring to the General Store.
Make sure you’ve secured Windrock passes for everyone in your vehicle before arriving at the drivers meeting for your guided ride. Windrock will check passes before you hit the trails.
Inside the Windrock Campground: The speed limit is 15 MPH. This is strictly enforced by Windrock staff. They can and will cite you for speeding—and in some cases, revoke your trail pass altogether. Yes, we know it feels slow, but pump the brakes. There are children, bikes, scooters, side-by-sides, and campers all around. Take your time.
In addition to the safety risks, speeding reflects poorly on our event. If Windrock receives complaints or repeated reports of GSMTR attendees speeding, our club could be reprimanded, which jeopardizes our ability to host future events. Don’t be the reason we lose access—slow it down.
Inside the GSMTR Event Area: Once you pass through the gate into the primitive camping/event field, the speed limit drops to 5 MPH. We will enforce this internally. It’s not just about safety—it’s about dust. Excessive dust affects everyone trying to enjoy a good time in camp. Vehicles are often tightly parked, and it’s common to see kids darting out from behind rigs. Stay alert and crawl through camp.
Where’s the closest gas station?
The nearest fuel stop is located in Oliver Springs, less than 5 miles from Windrock Park.
Where can I get groceries or supplies?
Also in Oliver Springs. There’s a full grocery store and basic convenience items nearby.
What if I arrive late at night?
If you arrive outside of check-in hours, proceed directly to the primitive group camping area. Set up and check in at the Pavilion the next morning during registration hours.
